12.25 MP image sensor for camera phones, delivered by Sony Ericsson
Seems like in the very near future, camera phones will totally replace the digital ones. The first to make steps in this direction is the Sony Ericsson asian staff. They announced that, most recently in March 2009, will launch on the market phones with sensors from the Exmor series that, until now, has the industry’s highest Megapixel count: 12.25 MP.
Sony says that, although they are extremely small, the new image sensors can deliver high-quality images, thanks to several factors like a unique pixel structure, and to Sony’s proprietary “Column-Parallel A/D Conversion technique”.
